The winter holidays happen to come at the darkest time of the winter, when the days are so short and the sun goes down early. To keep the cold at bay, we light candles and bring wood inside to the hearth to build fires. We warm our insides with whiskey or cider drinks, often spiced with cinnamon, cloves and orange. To many of us, this is what the holidays smell like. Notes of pine and woody smoke combine with boozy flavors of belly-warming drinks enhanced with tasty spices from the kitchen. Fill your living room with the scents of those dark, fire-warmed nights and it's the holidays whenever you need it to be.

• 2.6 ounce eight-piece soy wax melts in a kraft candy box and plastic tray.
• Pop one or two sections from the mold and place them in a wax melter. An electric wax melter or one that is heated with a tea light can both be used safely. Don't leave the melter unattended when turned on or burning.
